Listen to The Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??’ from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as Quill listens on his headphones

The Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??‘ was that fabulous song playing on the new movie Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 this week Quill is listening to the song on his headphones.

It is one of a slew of superb songs played in the film, with many of them allowing fans to reminisce back several decades to times when we were all much younger.

In the case of The Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??‘, that track was released in mid-2002 as the lead single from the American psychedelic rock band’s tenth studio album album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots.

The track charted in the UK at #32 on the UK Singles chart, as well as at #27 in Scotland, and was ultimately certified Gold in the United States.

The Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??‘ has since gone on to become not only the band’s most popular song, but also the one they play during live concerts more than just about any other.

It was written about the precarious life we all lead, floating around in space on a giant ball and with a lifespan that is very very short.

Do you realize
That everyone you know someday will die?
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes,
let them know
You realize that life goes fast

The song was first affiliated with Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 when it was used in the Comic Com trailer for the movie back in 2022.

It was then decided to feature it on the film’s soundtrack as well.

Listen to The Flaming Lips’ ‘Do You Realize??’ as heard on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on the official music video for the track and on Spotify.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now showing in a movie theater somewhere in your neck of the woods.
