Listen to The Go-Go’s ‘We Got the Beat’ from Chucky, Season 1, Episode 4, “Just Let Go”

Los Angeles-formed indie rock band The Go-Go’s ‘We Got the Beat‘ was played on the slasher show Chucky tonight — Chucky, Season 1, Episode 4, “Just Let Go“.

The upbeat song is the iconic Go-Go’s track any fan of the band thinks about when they think about this amazing all-female band.

The Go-Go’s ‘We Got the Beat‘ was first released in 1980 as a single, then re-released on the band’s debut studio album Beauty and the Beat a year later.

It was the first song the band released that was ‘less punk’ and ‘more pop’, and that switch in sound away from the punk rock they had originally been known for became a huge advantage for the women in their careers from then on out.

The song ultimately made it to #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart on its second release, while also charting high in Canada and Australia.

It then got even more traction a year later when the track was played at the beginning of the hit teen comedy film Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

No wonder really, as ‘We Got the Beat‘ is a song that, you hear it once, and you can’t get it out of your head.

Listen to The Go-Go’s ‘We Got the Beat‘ as heard on tonight’s Chucky on the band’s album Beauty and the Beat, and in the track’s official music video.

That video was filmed during a live performance at an American high school.

Chucky is currently airing on the Syfy channel. And yep, while it might seem a silly premise — a doll killing people — and a huge throwback to a silly movie, the show itself is still very entertaining.
