Listen to The Hives’ ‘Bogus Opеrandi’ from Goosebumps S1 E8 end credits – a bangin’ garage rock track

Swedish band The Hives play out the latest episode of Goosebumps

The Swedish rock band The Hives’ ‘Bogus Operandi‘ was that bangin’ high-energy track playing over the Goosebumps end credits this week — Goosebumps, Season 1, Episode 8 “You Can’t Scare Me“.

It was one of four songs on the episode, but was a standout as its all-out power added just a little bit more satisfaction to those final scenes.

The garage rock song, by the way, is the first song and the first single from the indie rock band’s most recent album, The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons.

It is The Hives‘ sixth studio album, and came out via the band’s own Disques Hives record label earlier this year.

Here are some interesting facts about the album and the band:

  • The Hives was founded in 1993 and has released six studio albums, one compilation album, one live album, and four EPS during that time.
  • The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons is the Swedish band’s first album release in over 11 years.
  • Fizsimmons is a fictional “sixth band member” who acted as the band’s songwriter and manager.
  • The band deliberately went for a more punk rock sound for both ‘Bogus Operandi‘ and the rest of the album. A similar sound to what they were creating in the early part of the 21st century as, having been together since 1993, they wanted fans to know rock n’ roll never grows up.
  • The Death of Randy Fitzsimmons hit #1 on the UK Independent Albums chart.
  • It also climbed up charts in 11 other countries, with a #49 spot on the U.S. Independent Albums chart.
  • While the band released four singles from Randy Fitzsimmons, including ‘Bogus Operandi‘, none of them charted.

The Hives’ ‘Bogus Operandi‘ was written about a con man, but can also be applied to any entity that scams people — whether that’s major corporations, the pharmaceutical industry, the military industrial complex, or your government.

The song’s lyrics apply equally to all:

Cheat time, open slot
I’ll go to work
(Like I said, like I said, like I said, like I said)
A velvet con man
You’ll never feel the jerk
(Like I said, like I said, like I said, like I said)
