Listen to The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Monday, Monday’ from Lucky Hank, S01 E03

Folk rock group The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Monday, Monday‘ was played on the AMC black comedy series Lucky Hank this week — Lucky Hank, Season 1, Episode 3, “Escape“.

The song was heard as Hank is trying to get his car out of the garage, and has a fit of anger as a container dropped off behind the garage is blocking his way.

It plays again later in the episode as Hank tries to do the same thing.

The Mamas & The Papas’ ‘Monday, Monday‘ came out in 1966 as a single and the first track on their debut studio album If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears.

The song shot to the #1 spot on charts in Canada, South Africa and the U.S.

It became the group’s biggest hit when it hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. A place they were never able to replicate again with any other song release.

Monday, Monday‘ also won the group a Grammy Award.

The song became so popular it has since been covered by such luminaries as Marianne Faithful, Petula Clark, Wilson Phillips, Neil Diamond and Dionne Warwick.
