American indie rock band The National‘s experimental sounding song ‘The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness‘ was featured on the soundtrack of the latest episode of the NBC series This Is Us this week — Season 2, Episode 9, “Number 2“.
It was played as Kate and Toby are in the bathroom together putting up their new shower curtain.
‘The System Only Dreams In Total Darkness‘ was released in May this year and hit the number one spot soon after on the Billboard Adult Alternative Songs chart. The only The National single to ever get to a number one spot.
The band’s seventh studio album Sleep Well Beast was then released in September to critical acclaim.
