American rock band The National’s ‘Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks‘ was one of the tracks played on one of the new episodes of the Spanish crime drama Money Heist released on Netflix this week — Money Heist, Season 5, Episode 6, “Válvulas de escape“.
The song was played during the opening scenes of that episode.
The National’s ‘Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks‘ is from the band’s fifth studio album High Violet, which came out in 2010 via the 4AD record label.
The track was the last one on the album. An album that was both critically acclaimed upon release, and commercially successful.
High Violet charted in 18 countries.
In the United States, it hit #1 on the Billboard Top Rock Albums chart, and #3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
High Violet also made it into the Top 10 in nine other countries, including the UK where it charted at #5.
Several of the tracks from the album have been favorites of TV show music supervisors, appearing on shows as different as Defending Jacob, BBC Sport, 90210, Black Earth Rising, Gossip Girl, Lone Star and The Vampire Diaries.
The National’s ‘Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks‘ has also been played on Grey’s Anatomy, Chuck and Warehouse 13.
