Listen to The Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Mayonaise’ from Beef, S01 E10 end credits

American indie rock band The Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Mayonaise‘ was one of several songs played on the series finale episode of the Netflix black comedy Beef this week — Beef, Season 1, Episode 10, “Figures of Light“.

The track was the song playing over the end credits.

The Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Mayonaise‘ is one of the band’s older releases coming out in 1993 on the band’s second studio album Siamese Dream.

It is also a weird one as, even though it was never released as a single, the slow rock track has been a fan favorite ever since.

The song is also known for the feedback you can hear throughout the song.

Feedback lead singer Billy Corgan says came from the cheap guitar he used on the track, and that wasn’t intended until the band listened to the recording and liked what it added to the track.

In an even funnier story, apparently the title of ‘Mayonaise‘ was meant to be something completely different but, after The Smashing Pumpkins performed in Japan and saw one of the lyrics from another of their songs had been mistranslated by the Japanese into ‘mayonaise seas’, they thought the weird lyric just had to be used for a song title.

Listen to The Smashing Pumpkins’ ‘Mayonaise‘ as heard on last night’s Beef in the video, and on the alternative rock band’s Siamese Dream album.

An album that, to this day, is thought of as one of the best rock albums of the 20th century.

All 10 episodes of Beef are now streaming via Netflix.
