Alternative country singer The White Buffalo’s ‘The Woods‘ was featured on the latest episode of the Netflix superhero series Marvel’s The Punisher this week — Season 2, Episode 8, “My Brother’s Keeper“.
The song was played as Frank Castle is sitting at the graves of his wife and children teary-eyed.
‘The Woods’ is from The White Buffalo’s 2008 second studio album Hogtied Revisited, an album you can hear in its entirety in the Spotify widget below.
As for The White Buffalo, he is one of those country singers whose music you may have heard, loved the song, but had no idea who was singing it.
A bit of a shame really as The White Buffalo, also known as Jake Smith, has been releasing a huge amount of music under that name since his debut album Hogtied Like a Rodeo in 2002.
The California-based singer songwriter currently has six studio albums out, three EPs and has written music for three soundtracks — Safe Haven, The Lone Ranger, West of Memphis and the song ‘I Know You’ for the Halo Wars 2 E3 trailer.
His songs have also appeared in the TV series This Is Us, Sons of Anarchy and Californication, and in the movie Shelter.
‘The Woods’ is the second track from The White Buffalo to appear on Marvel’s The Punisher. His song ‘Wish It Was True‘ was featured in Season 1, Episode 3, ‘Kandahar‘.
