American rock band Toto’s big hit ‘Hold the Line‘ was played on the soundtrack of the new season of the Apple+ series Physical this week — Physical, Season 2, Episode 1, “Don’t You Want Me“.
The cool song was played as Sheila and Danny are leaving the party.
Toto’s ‘Hold the Line‘ was the band’s first single, and the lead single from the band’s self-titled debut studio album, which was released in 1978 via Columbia Records.
The song became a big hit for the relatively new band, catapulting to #5 on both the Billboard Hot 100 chart and on the Cash Box Top 100 chart.
It also charted high in 12 other countries, even hitting #1 in South Africa.
The track features a cool piano riff, a rockin guitar and an upbeat, catchy melody, especially during the chorus. No wonder then the track became so popular.
The band Toto was founded in 1977, with band members still together and performing today, albeit with a markedly different line-up.
Listen to Toto’s ‘Hold the Line‘ as heard on Physical last night in the song’s music video, which features the band performing the track live, and on the band’s debut album.
In the band’s long career, they have released 14 studio albums (the most recent in 2018), eight live albums, a slew of compilation albums and a massive number of singles.
Season 2 of Physical is currently streaming via Apple+.
