American musician and composer Tycho’s ‘A Walk‘ was that lovely dreamy retropop instrumental piece playing on the second episode of the latest season of YOU on Netflix this week — YOU, Season 4, Episode 2, “Portrait of the Artist“.
The electronica track was played as Joe follows Adam to the gallery and as Adam, who is high, is looking at the £70,000 egg standing on a pedestal, and then buys it.
The pretty instrumental piece perfectly summed up the feel of those scenes, especially Adam’s mood.
Tycho’s ‘A Walk‘ was released as the first track on the musician’s second studio album Dive, which came out in November, 2011 on the Ghostly International record label.
The album took immense work on Tycho’s part at the time, with the musician (aka Scott Hansen) saying it was five years of work before Dive was released.
Dive went on to rank on two charts in the United States — at #22 on the Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, and at #39 on the Heatseekers Albums chart.
‘A Walk‘ is a standout from the album, as it is quite mesmerizing in its calmness.
It is also interesting to read all the comments from listeners on the track’s YouTube page, and realize how much music like this can touch so many people. People, some of whom admit, they still listen to the piece often well over a decade after its release.
Listen to Tycho’s ‘A Walk‘ as heard on the second episode of YOU in the video, and on the musician’s Dive album.
