Listen to War’s ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?’ from Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

With Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw hitting movie theaters in the U.S. this weekend, I thought it was time to look at some of the songs featured in the latest movie in the action franchise.

Songs like funk band War’s ‘Why Can’t We Be Friends?‘, a song that showed up on the second trailer for the film. Although you have probably heard the iconic War track on a slew of movies and TV series before this.

Including the TV series Felicity, Beverly Hills 90210, Scandal, The Wire, Everybody Hates Chris, Supernatural, Bates Motel and The Simpsons (several episodes),  and the movies Gone in Sixty Seconds, Robots, Dazed and Confused, A Knight’s Tale, and Suicide Squad.

Why Can’t We Be Friends?‘ is from War’s seventh studio album of the same name. It was the last album released by the funk band on their long time label United Artists and. some say, the last superb album the band produced before their efforts on the MCA label killed their iconic sound.

Released in 1975, the title track was the lead single from the album. It made it to the number 6 spot in the U.S. Singles chart, and to number 9 on the R&B chart. The album hit the top spot on the R&B Albums chart in the U.S.
