My Demon Ep 6 hits highest ever rating on an extremely competitive night

As the Korean romance drama My Demon continues to see-saw in the TV rating, I was thrilled to see the latest numbers from Nielsen Korea earlier today.

Those numbers show My Demon, Episode 6 actually grabbing its highest ever rating last night.

This after experiencing a substantial ratings fall with Episode 5 on Friday night.

In other words, with Episodes 5 and 6 alone, My Demon has shot from its lowest ever rating to its highest. Crazy, eh?

What were the My Demon, Episode 6 ratings on Saturday night?

According to Nielsen, My Demon, Episode 6 earned 4.7 percent of the audience share nationwide, which is a big increase from Episode 5’s 3.4 percent on Friday night.

The latest rating for the SBS drama is also .20 percent higher than its previous highest rating, which the Korean drama earned for Episode 1.

In Seoul, My Demon, Episode 6 also climbed back up to its highest ever rating with last night’s 5.1 percent of the audience share equaling the same rating it received for Episode 1.

Saturday nights are very competitive for K-dramas on Korean TV

My Demon‘s highest ever rating last night is even more remarkable considering it shares a time slot with the MBC drama The Story of Park’s Marriage Contract, which itself saw a huge ratings increase last night.

Considering Saturday night in South Korea is also a very competitive night for dramas, with Goryeo-Khitan War, Welcome to Samdal-ri airing during different times of the eveing, and the new tvN drama Maestra: Strings of Truth also premiering last night, My Demon‘s ratings rise for Episode 6 then is truly remarkable.

Personally, I have never understood why Korean networks choose to air their best dramas on nights with a crazy amount of competition.

Especially when there are other nights during the week without a single drama airing.

That, however, is how it currently goes in South Korea with Saturday night the most jam-packed night for drama entertainment.

As for My Demon, which stars Kim Yoo Jung, Song Kang, Lee Sang Yi, and Kim Hae Sook, the Korean drama’s next episode will air on Friday December 15th.

Let’s hope it continues with the drama’s ratings rise as, so far, it is one of the most enjoyable and best-acted Korean dramas airing right now.
