The new sports-themed drama My Lovely Boxer, Episode 1 premiered in South Korea last night to the lowest rating for a KBS2 drama in that time slot in 2023.

My Lovely Boxer (not to be confused with the ongoing My Lovely Liar) follows on from Brain Works, Oasis, My Perfect Stranger and Heartbeat, which also aired on the network in the Monday and Tuesday 21:50 (KST) time slot.

The rating for My Lovely Boxer, Episode 1 at 2.0 percent nationwide is at least just half the rating each of the other drama’s garnered for their first episodes.

The low rating for the first episode of My Lovely Boxer does not, however, mean that the drama will continue earning that small of an audience.

After all, with 11 more episodes to air, the drama could easily see rapidly increasing ratings as its run continues.

International viewers of My Lovely Boxer

However, over on My Drama List, international viewers are already criticizing the drama for not being realistic when it shows the boxing scenes.

Especially as the main character Lee Kwon Sook (played by Kim So Hye) is supposed to be a genius elite boxer.

Meanwhile, the drama is being rated an 8.2 out of 10.

My Lovely Boxer (aka 순정복서 or ‘Pure Boxer‘ in Korean) stars Lee Sang Yeob, Kim So Hye, and Kim Jin Woo.

The drama airs on KBS2 every Monday and Tuesday at 21:45 (KST), followed by new episodes being uploaded to Viki and to Kocowa soon after for international viewers in various regions.
