Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ Debut Album is Awesome (Video)

Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats s.o.b.

I would never have listened to Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ debut album if I hadn’t watched a video from The Guardian’s Michael Hann (see below). After all, Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats sing classic 1960s soul and R&B music, which is rarely my thing.

But Michael Hann has named Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ debut album as the one to listen to above all others this week and, after listening to it all the way through, I have to say I agree with him.

Nathaniel Rateliff and his band are from Denver, Colorado. Before Rateliff put the band together a couple of years ago, he was known as more of a folk singer than anything else. Eventually, though, he found his soul roots, added a bit of R&B, gospel and honky tonk and, since then, he and the band have become golden, garnering acclaim all over the place.

As for their debut album, and the best track from it? S.O.B. The one that’s already a hit. So far anyway. Although the whole album is so good, there are likely to be a few more ‘hits’ yet, before we’re done.

Watch what Michael Hann has to say about Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ debut album in the video below. Watch the video for ‘S.O.B.’ below that.

Then listen to the whole album in the Deezer plugin. It’s brilliant. And, of course, if you love it as much as I do buy the album.
