Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians ‘My Wife and My Dead Wife’: Repeat Rotation Video

Just a quick post about today’s Repeat Rotation Video, as it’s 3am and I’m not in bed yet. (I think I’ve been listening to this song too many times, and it’s put me behind).

The band I chose for Repeat Rotation Video today is Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians and their song ‘My Wife and My Dead Wife’

I chose it because Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians were my favorite band for years. Then I was MC at a Robyn Hitchcock concert in Cincinnati, Ohio and actually him. I even had a strange conversation with him about lobsters in a bucket among other things (come on, it’s Robyn Hitchcock. You think he’s going to talk about something ‘normal’?).

From then on, they were my favorite band of all-time, and that hasn’t changed much, no matter how long it is since they broke up.

‘My Wife and My Dead Wife’ is from the album Fegmania!, which I still think is one of their best albums ever, with such gems as ‘Heaven’, ‘Strawberry Mind’ and ‘Glass’.

Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians, by the way, was made up of Robyn, Andy Metcalf, Morris Windsor and Roger Jackson. They released six albums over a period of eight years before they broke up permanently and, yes, they were fabulous.

Robyn Hitchcock does, however, still have a successful solo career so, if you liked him with the Egyptians as much as I did, don’t despair. He’s still around and still making amazing music.

Now, listen to ‘My Wife and My Dead Wife’ in my Repeat Rotation Video slot today. Good, eh?
