Selena Gomez’ ‘Lose You To Love Me’ a stunning song written to the idiot that hurt her

Selena Gomez’ ‘Lose You To Love Me‘ is so simple but so beautiful

The astounding Selena Gomez is finally back with new music and, wow, is this a beautiful song.

Called ‘Lose You To Love Me‘, the track is Gomez’ making something lovely out of a bad situation, while simultaneously standing up for herself, who she is and how she should be treated.

As Gomez said about ‘Lose You To Love Me‘ in a statement:

“This song was inspired by many things that have happened in my life since releasing my last album. I thought it was important to share the music, as I know many can relate to the fact that the road to self-discovery generally comes through the scars in one’s life. I want people to feel hope and to know you will come out the other side stronger and a better version of yourself.”

The song was co-produced by Finneas, who is an actor, a singer and a record producer. He is also the brother of Billie Eilish, and has written or co-written and produced most of her songs.

And, of course, rumor has it Gomez’ new song was written about Justin Bieber. The singer she first got into a relationship with in 2010, and then broke up with, reunited with and broke up with several times afterwards, before finally parting from permanently in 2018.

A man (it’s really hard to call him that as ‘spoilt child’ would be a better description) Gomez should never have gotten involved with in the first place as she always deserved so much better than that.

Honestly, though, who cares what idiot Gomez’ ‘Lose You To Love Me’ was written about, as the song is stunningly beautiful in its own right.

Selena Gomez’ ‘Lose You To Love Me‘ also comes with a gorgeous black and white music video. Interesting in and of itself, as it was filmed on an iPhone, and is nothing more than Gomez staring into the camera lens as she sings.

It begins with Gomez singing while looking over her shoulder nervously every few seconds. It ends with her seeming confident and secure in herself and who she is.

Hopefully that is how she truly feels in real life as well.

The ‘Lose You To Love Me‘ video was directed by Sophie Muller, who was also responsible for Gomez’ equally beautiful ‘Good For You‘ music video.

You can also listen to the track in the Spotify widget below that.

As for Gomez, she is currently working on her third studio album. That will be the first full release from the 27-year-old singer since her smash hit album Revival back in 2015.

And as a writer, I’ll finish this by saying these lyrics from ‘Lose You To Love Me’ are some of the most perfect I have ever heard:

You promised the world and I fell for it
I put you first and you adored it
Set fires to my forest
And you let it burn
Sang off-key in my chorus
‘Cause it wasn’t yours
I saw the signs and I ignored it

Because most of us have been there, haven’t we? And that describes how we all felt at the time.
