The ever prolific Sia has another single just released. Called ‘Alive’, it’s from Sia’s new album This Is Acting, and it also got a lyrics video this week.
In the ‘Alive‘ lyrics video, a band of graffiti artists march around Los Angeles in hooded sweatshirts and with their faces blacked out. On their heads, half black and half blonde wigs with Sia-style haircuts, and in their hands cans of spray paint. Spray paint that they then use to etch the lyrics of Sia’s ‘Alive‘ onto walls, doors and buildings.
The song itself is a defiant anthem, with Sia singing that, no matter what happens to her, ” I’m still breathing. I’m alive”.
And interestingly the song was originally written by Sia and British singer Adele, and co-writer Tobias Jesso Jr., for Adele’s new album 25. Adele, however, decided later on she didn’t want to use the song, so Sia took it back and converted it into more of an anthem than Adele would have probably sung.
To me, it sounds like the perfect song for Adele or for Sia so, either way, it’s a winner.
Watch Sia’s lyrics video for ‘Alive‘ below. Powerful, eh?
