I’m always happy when alternative rock band Silversun Pickups releases something new, even if it’s just a music video for their third single ‘Latchkey Kids‘ from their year-old album Better Nature.
Because everything this band releases reminds me of one of may all-time favorite bands, Smashing Pumpkins, but a more dreamy, even lovelier version with some absolutely gorgeous guitars and fabulous drums.
Take ‘Latchkey Kids‘, for instance. The guitars on this track are superb, Brian Aubert vocals are haunting and Chris Guanlao’ drumming will get you up off your chair and dancing. Guaranteed.
As for the video for Silversun Pickups’ ‘Latchkey Kids‘, it is as you might expect. Complete with a feeling of the desolation and alienation teenagers often feel, but heightened when they really are latchkey kids with little supervision or control.
