American singer songwriter Sufjan Stevens just released his second single from his new album ‘Carrie & Lowell’ and, God, is it beautiful. Called ‘Should Have Known Better‘, it has much more of a 60s American folk feel to it than much of his most recent work, so he’s definitely going back to his roots, which is exactly what he said he was going to when he talked about ‘Carrie & Lowell‘ recently.

Listen to Sufjan’s vocals on this one, though. Aren’t they gorgeous? And the simple guitar melody – lovely. And, don’t miss that short quite surprising instrumental bit at the end. Isn’t that gorgeous?

Should Have Known Better‘ is the second song Stevens has released from ‘Carrie & Lowell‘, his first studio album in five years. It’s due to be released on March 31st. You can grab it on iTunes.
