Episode 2 of revenge drama premiered to substantial drop in ratings

The ongoing revenge crime drama The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection premiered on Friday night to the lowest rating the SBS drama has earned during its two season run yet.

Even Episode 1 of the Korean drama’s first season earned higher ratings than the first episode of its second.

Those ratings fell further for The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection, Episode 2 last night, as it earned just 3.2 percent of the nationwide viewership.

That is a drop of 1.2 percent from Friday night’s audience share, and the lowest the ensemble drama has earned since its first season premiered on September 15th, 2023.

That being said, dramas airing on Friday and Saturday evenings generally have strong competition, and so it often takes a few episodes for them to find their feet.

In other words, just two episodes in of a 16-episode show is too earlier to decide The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection ratings are doomed.

Especially as the K-drama is also streaming on both Couping Play and Wavve in South Korea, so may be being watched by a substantial number of people more than Nielsen Korea is reporting.

When and where does The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection air/stream?

The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection stars Um Ki Joon, Hwang Jung Eum, Lee Joon, Lee Yu Bi, Shin Eun Kyung, Yoon Jong Hoon, Jo Yoon Hee, and Jo Jae Yoon.

The drama’s second season is airing on Friday and Saturday night’s on SBS TV through May 18th, with Viki streaming the Korean drama for its international subscribers in most regions.

Note too, while only 42 people are currently rating the drama on Viki, it currently has a 9.5 out of 10 rating on that streaming platform, so some people are loving it so far, right?
