The Golden Spoon had its highest ratings in Korea yesterday — Lee Seung-cheon changes his destiny

The Korean drama series The Golden Spoon had its highest ratings in Korea yet yesterday, with the show’s ninth episode gaining almost double the viewers of its previous episode.

According to Nielsen Korea, MBC’s The Golden Spoon rose from a 4.6% audience share to a 7.8% nationwide for Episode 9.

Part of this could be due to One Dollar Lawyer in the same time slot on SBS not airing an episode.

The Golden Spoon, which stars Yook Sung-jae, Jung Chae-yeon, Yeonwoo and Lee Jong-won, tells the story of Lee Seung-cheon (Yook Sung-jae).

Seung-cheon is a boy from a poor family who changes fate with a boy from a wealthy family due to the use of a golden spoon he buys from an old woman he meets on the street.

The woman tells him, if he buys the spoon for $3, and eats with it three times at his friend’s house, that friend’s parents will become his parents.

The 16-episode The Golden Spoon is directed by Song Hyun-wook (The King’s Affection), and is based on a webtoon of the same name by Yoon Eun-Kyung and Kim Eun-hee.

Fans of K-dramas can currently watch The Golden Spoon outside Korea on Disney +.
