The Libertines ‘You’re My Waterloo’ Video is Romance in Black and White

The British rock band The Libertines has released a new video for their latest single ‘You’re My Waterloo’, and it’s quite a bit more old-fashioned and romantic than we’re used to. Interestingly, it also features two actual, real-life high-profile actors — Freddie Highmore of Bates Motel fame, and Marama Corlett from Guardians of the Galaxy.

The ‘You’re My Waterloo‘ video they appear in is in black and white, which gives it quite a nostalgic air and, to me, is somewhat reminiscent of the famous Robert Doisneau painting ‘Le Baiser de l’Hôtel de Ville‘ (The Kiss at the Hotel de Ville). All seductive and romantic.

Except this one was filmed in London, and directed by The Libertines’ Carl Barât and photographer Roger Sargent. Watch it below.

As for ‘You’re My Waterloo‘, it’s a very pretty song and is from The Libertines latest album, the 16-track Anthems for Doomed Youth, which is currently available on most major digital music platforms for a ridiculously low price.
