Vök’s Official Video for ‘Waiting’ was Filmed on the Sólheimajökull Glacier

Icelandic dream pop trio Vök recently released the official video for their latest single ‘Waiting‘. It is a track from their upcoming new EP, due to be released some time in May, and it is gorgeous.

As for Vök, the indie trio originally started out as a duo (made up of vocalist Margrét Rán Magnúsdóttir, who definitely sounds a little bit like Bjork during her Sugarcubes years, and saxophonist and beat maker Andri Már Enoksson). They got together just to enter Músíktilraunir, Iceland’s version of Battle of the Bands. A competition they wrote a few quick songs for and then…won.

Since then, they have added a third member to the duo with guitarist Ólafur Alexander, and now have a slightly less dream pop sound and a bit more of an indie pop one and, also, a much richer more technically developed feel to them than they used to.

The trio is also picking up quite a large following as they are playing more concerts around Europe nowadays, and are also being championed by radio stations like the University of Washington’s KEXP, which has featured them in a couple of live concerts filmed in Iceland recently.

Watch Vök’s official video for ‘Waiting‘ below. It was filmed on the Sólheimajökull glacier, about two hours from Reykjavik, which gives the whole video a dreamy yet very stark feel to it, and definitely adds even more mystery to the track.

You can also pick up ‘Waiting‘ on most major digital music sites.
