Since I watched Coldplay’s newly released video for ‘Up&Up‘, I have been addicted to the song. So much so, I have watched that video 20 times already.
Then, last night, Coldplay appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where they performed a beautiful extended version of ‘Up&Up‘ live. A version that is stunning when you get to hear how it sounds sung with frontman Chris Martin’s far more melancholic vocals live, and with that beautiful extended guitar solo.
In fact, Coldplay’s ‘Up&Up‘ live was so gorgeously done, you can hear Colbert at the end of the track saying “That was so beautiful” as he shakes the band’s hands.
Watch Coldplay perform the track live below, and then try to get that tune out of your head. Bet you can’t.
‘Up&Up‘, of course, is from Coldplay’s incredibly successful latest album A Head Full of Dreams. An album that hit the number one in the UK the week it was released, and the number 2 spot in the United States.
Since then, the album has become not only critically-acclaimed, but also one of the British bands most successful releases to date.
Update: Unfortunately, Colbert has chosen to delete the band’s live performance from his YouTube channel (which is something that usually happens, hence why we no longer showcase artists’ performances on Colbert). Luckily, there is a similarly gorgeous live performance available from the band’s 2016 concert in Barcelona. Enjoy!
