Want to watch a music video that will give you goosebumps?
Then fire up Coldplay‘s just released official video for ‘A Head Full of Dreams‘, because not only does it start with that famous Charlie Chaplin speech from The Great Dictator about people changing the world — the same speech the band has been playing for their audience before every concert on their world tour — but it also plays over a video collage of average Mexicans just going about their normal day.
Just to hammer the message home.
As for Chaplin’s speech, if you haven’t heard it before, it says,
“I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone – if possible – Jew, Gentile – black man – white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness – not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another.
In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. For those who can hear me I say, do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed, the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die. And the power they took from the people will return to the people.
The kingdom of God is within men. Not in one man, or a group of men, but in all men. In you, you the people have the power. The power to create machines. The power to create happiness. You the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful. To make this life a wonderful adventure…”
Then the lads from Coldplay arrive. On their BMX bikes. Pedaling through Mexico City’s streets, into the Foro Sol Stadium and up onto the stage where thousands of the band’s fans are waiting.
they perform ‘A Head Full Of Dreams‘ in front of that massive audience. A kick ass performance, and them having a wonderful time doing it.
Yet, at the same time as everyone is having one of the best times of their life, they also give their audience a powerful message. Everyone deserves to be treated like everyone else. And anyone can change the world. You just have to believe you can do it.
And, if you don’t believe me about how important a message like that can be when it comes to actually making a difference, just read some of the comments from fans below the YouTube video — starting with “They give me hope, they make me feel like everything is going to be alright ❤️”
