Watch James Taylor Sing ‘Montana’ Live on Late Show with Stephen Colbert (Live)

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert has easily become one of my must-watch shows of the week in the last couple of months. Not only because Colbert is brilliant, but also because he has some of the best music guests on late night TV. Guests like the amazing Michael Flatley and the Lord of the Dance dancers, or Irish singer Glen Hansard singing ‘Lowly Deserter.

And on Wednesday night, American icon James Taylor appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert singing his latest single ‘Montana‘, from his new album Before This World. An album that is Taylor’s first album of all new material in 13 years.

This month too, James Taylor is being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom on November 24th. He is one of only 17 Americans to ever be given this honor, the country’s highest for a civilian.

Now watch Taylor sing ‘Montana‘ live on Stephen Colbert. At 67 years old, his voice is just as beautiful as it was in his 20s, and his song writing skills even better.

You can pick up his new album now on all major digital music sites.

Updated: As is often the case, Colbert has deleted the video of James Taylor’s performance on his show, which is why we no longer showcase performances from The Late Show. Luckily, though, the BBC rarely deletes performances from the show Later…with Jools Holland and Taylor showed up on that show recently too. Watch his live performance of ‘Montana‘ below. It’s equally gorgeous.
