Days after unveiling the official video for their latest single ‘Drum and Fife‘, The Smashing Pumpkins were on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon this week singing ‘Drum and Fife‘ live. And, boy, did Fallon sound like he was happy about it.
‘Drum and Fife‘ is from the Pumpkins’ latest album ‘Monuments to an Elegy‘, and their performance of it on Fallon was typical Pumpkins, in that the guitars are so aggressive, and lead singer Billy Corgan’s voice always sounds harsher and more nasally live than recorded. Something I love.
As for the album, it’s been critically acclaimed.
As a proud owner, I have to say, even though it’s only a 32-minute album, it well deserves the positive reception as ‘Drum and Fife‘ is only one of a fair few gems. Don’t believe me? Grab ‘Monuments to an Elegy‘ on iTunes and you’ll see.
