The Head and the Heart appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert this week to perform their new single ‘All We Ever Knew‘. It is the lead track from the indie folk band’s third album, Signs of Light, released on September 9th.

The album itself, of course, is the first release from the band since their 2013 endeavour Let’s Be Still. Since then, they took a couple of years off, but have recently regrouped and Signs of Light is the result.

As bassist Chris Zasche told Billboard recently, “It almost felt like we were a new band, trying things we hadn’t tried. We stayed at a bungalow on the beach. We’d wake up, have coffee and go boogie boarding. We were ready and excited to be back together.”

Just listening to them play ‘All We Ever Knew‘ on Stephen Colbert, you can tell it worked.

You can pick up The Head and the Heart’s latest album now on all major music platforms. Meanwhile, listen to their lovely Colbert performance below.

Update: Sadly, Colbert deleted the performance from his YouTube channel, so I have substituted a similarly wonderful performance of the track the band gave on Conan in November, 2016. Enjoy!
