You don’t always get to see The O’Jays perform live every day. Come on. The group has been around since 1958, and the members are now in their 70s.

But…they did show up on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Wednesday night to give a fabulous performance of their classic hit ‘Love Train‘.

The O’Jays performed ‘Love Train‘ with Colbert’s house band Jon Batiste and Stay Human and brought an already loving them audience to their feet and screaming.

Proving, yet again, that just because you’re not a 20-year-old, doesn’t mean you can’t create some of the most amazing music on the planet. And completely rock it live.

Watch The O’Jays on Stephen Colbert this week in the video below. And, if ‘Love Train‘ is a track you have always loved but never owned, it is featured on The O’Jays’ compilation album The Essential O’Jays which you can currently pick up on all major digital music platforms.

Edit: Sadly, Colbert has deleted The O’Jays’ live performance on his show, so I am including a similarly superb performance from the BBC TV show Later…with Jools Holland instead. Enjoy.
