Indie band Unknown Mortal Orchesta (UMO) appeared on Conan last night where they gave a live performance of the Grateful Dead track ‘Shakedown Street‘. The track is from the tribute compilation album Day of the Dead.
As for the band’s own music, they released their latest album in May last year.
Called Multi-Love, it was given rave reviews by critics at some of the most influential music magazines, and eventually made it to the number 7 spot on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart.
As for Unknown Mortal Orchestra, the band was formed in 2011 by New Zealander Reuban Nielson. Nowadays, though, it is based in Portland, Oregon.
Watch Unknown Mortal Orchestra play Conan in the video below. Now that is a nice mellow performance.
Update: Sadly, as per usual nowadays, Conan deleted the video from his channel. So I have substituted it with a similarly excellent performance the band gave of ‘Shakedown Street’ at The Independent in San Francisco. Enjoy!
