With the final episode of the Korean drama Welcome to Samdalri airing tomorrow night, it was lovely to see Welcome to Samdalri, Episode 15 air on JTBC tonight to another personal best in the ratings.
According to Nielsen Korea, the K-drama’s penultimate episode earned 10.36 percent of the nationwide audience share, which is a nice increase from its previous highest rated episode — Episode 14 with its 10.06 percent viewership.
The Seoul audience for the drama also increased from Episode 14’s 10.79 percent rating on Friday night to tonight’s 10.91 percent.
Interestingly too, Welcome to Samdalri was the only Saturday evening drama that did not see a fall in ratings tonight.
Ratings drops that were primarily due to the broadcasting of the AFC Asian Cup between Jordan and South Korea. (The game ended in a 2-2 draw).
Welcome to Samdalri still a big success on Netflix
Meanwhile, Welcome to Samdalri is also still going gangbusters on Netflix where it is being streamed worldwide.
Last week, the Korean drama was at #8 on the Netflix Top 10 Most-Watched Non-English TV Shows chart, with 1.7 million views and 22.8 million hours watched.
It has also been on the platform’s Top 10 list every week, except one, since it began streaming on December 2nd.
The final episode of the Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun-led Welcome to Samdalri will air on JTBC and stream on Netflix tomorrow night (Sunday, January 21st, 2024).
Many of us will be sad to see it end as the trials and tribulations of the Jo family and those closest to them have been fascinating (and, in many cases, heart-warming) to watch.
