Fans of the When the Phone Rings K-drama are not going to be happy in December, as MBC has announced Episodes 8 and 9 will not air in their usual time slots on December 14th and 20th.
Instead, they will be postponed, with Episode 8 airing on December 21st and Episode 9 on December 27th.
That change in schedule then changes the series finale of the Korean thriller from its originally planned December 28th to the new date of January 4th.
Annoying for fans, and for the director, cast and crew of When the Phone Rings, as they will now be worrying about how that will affect the drama’s ratings.
The reason for When the Phone Rings, Episodes 8 and 9 being postponed?
The decision to put off airing two episodes of When the Phone Rings was made by MBC due to the airing of a December 14th documentary about Han Kang, the first Korean and the first Asian woman to ever win the Nobel Prize in Literature in its 123-year history.

Yep, Han Kang’s win for her novel is a big deal for South Koreans (and rightfully so), with the Nobel Prize committee commenting it was awarded to the now-54-year-old writer for:
her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life
Oddly, however, instead of then airing Episode 8 of When the Phone Rings on December 20th, MBC has decided to air a recap of Episodes 1 through 7.
As if any Korean drama fan wants to watch that.
In other words, if you have not yet begun watching When the Phone Rings, you may want to hold off until we get closer to its ending episodes, so you will be spared the annoying postponements now being forced upon us.
You can do that via Netflix once almost every episode is released.
