Remember a couple of months ago, I said the British electronic trio Years & Years should be huge, because they are really that good?
Well it looks like my wish is halfway to being granted, as Years & Years hit the number 1 spot in the UK this weekend with their new single ‘King‘.
Released just last week, ‘King‘ immediately went into the number one position in the British charts with more than 101,000 copies sold.
The first number one song for Years & Years. And, yes, it absolutely deserves it.
‘King‘ is from Years & Years’ debut album Communion, and has also charted in the top ten in Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Denmark, Germany, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, the Republic of Ireland and Switzerland since its release.
Interestingly too, it is a song Years & Years did not like at all when it was first written. But they came back to it a few weeks later, and decided to switch it up completely and make an Eighties dance-pop track out of it instead.
Well, that worked!
Listen to the Years & Years song ‘King‘ in the official music video for the track below. Because isn’t that catchy? And what a brilliant chorus.
