Indie rock band Yo La Tengo has released a new single from their upcoming album Stuff Like That There, and it’s their cover of The Cure’s 1992 hit ‘Friday I’m In Love’, one of my favorite all-time tracks.
And, frankly, it’s wonderful, as Yo La Tengo has given the song a more stripped back and less dramatic feel to it, relying as it does on the guitar so much.
As for Stuff Like That There, it’s a follow up to the band’s 2013 album Fakebook, which was an album of mainly cover songs just like this new one is. It releases on August 28th.
