Yuri visual novel Mizuchi gets April 7th release date — artwork is gorgeous

Visual novel developer Aikasa Collective has just announced the release date of their first yuri visual novel Mizuchi.

The Mizuchi release date will be April 7th, 2020 (just over a week to wait), with the game being available to download on Steam and on indie games platform itch.io.

The download on itch.io, of course, will be DRM-free.

And while Mizuchi is inspired by the traditional Chinese romance Legend of the White Serpent, the visual novel has been updated and made more modern so other cultures’ folklore is also included in it.

Mizuchi was successfully kickstarted, with an original $8,000 goal being funded to the tune of $10,745.

Mizuchi features

Aikasa Collective has also gone all out with the features this gorgeous looking visual novel will have. They include:

a) Two possible girl x girl romance routes

b) 5 potential endings, including just friendship if that’s how you like your yuri, and giving the game a whole slew of replayability.

c) Each playthrough taking at least five hours to complete.

d) An original soundtrack with 15 songs.

e) Character, CG and music galleries included in the game.

f) The game is playable on PC/Mac/Linux — so available to just about everyone.

The Mizuchi story

As for the story of Mizuchi, according to the developer it goes something like this:

Abruptly finding herself at the bottom of a snake pit, an impoverished girl named Linh is bound and helpless for a crime she did not commit. Left to the mercy of the village snake god, a mysterious entity appears before her, offering to save her in exchange for her soul.

Finding herself in a new reality, she is torn between staying with the beautiful temptress, Ai, who had rescued her from death, and the resourceful wanderer, Jinhai, who promises to set her free.

Who is the real savior? Will Linh discover the strength to change her own fate? Journey with Linh as she is forced to question her understanding of life, happiness, and what it means to be human. Each decision matters in this tale about identity, friendship, love and loss.
