Squid Game 2 hits #1 on Netflix Top 10 for record-breaking debut

As just about anyone who knows anything about Korean dramas could have predicted, Squid Game 2 is currently the #1 TV series on the Netflix Non-English TV Series chart just a week after it premiered on December 26th.

According to the streaming platform, Squid Game 2 hit #1 on the Most-Watched Non-English TV Series chart due to it being viewed for a total of 487.6 million hours during the period December 23rd to December 29th, 2024.

That is compared to its closest rival, La Palma, which was in the #2 spot with just 37.4 million hours viewed — or, fewer than 10 percent of the number of hours of Squid Game 2 was watched.

Squid Game 2 was also viewed 68 million times, compared to La Palma‘s 12.2 million hours.

As if that wasn’t cool enough, the first season of Squid Game also re-hit the chart, this time climbing to #3.

A record-breaking debut for Squid Game 2

Netflix also announced it was a record-breaking debut for Squid Game 2, as it ranked at #1 in an astounding 92 countries, and broke the record for most views for a show in its premiere week.

A record that was held, by the way, by the first season of Squid Game back in 2022.
