The hit Korean drama series Chief Detective 1958, Episode 9 aired last night to its third highest rating of its run.

It was also the second most-watched TV show of any kind on Korean TV on Friday in South Korea.

According to Nielsen Korea, Chief Detective, 1958, Episode 9 grabbed 10.0 percent of the audience nationwide, which is an increase from its previous episode’s 9.7 percent, and only .70 percent away from its highest rating for Episode 3.

In Seoul, the Korean drama experienced similar ratings results, grabbing 9.3 percent of the viewership, which placed it in first place for the night.

With the K-drama’s penultimate episode performing well on Friday night then, it is pretty likely its series finale will perform even better tonight.

Fingers crossed, as this one has been excellent from its very first episode.

International viewers watching Chief Detective 1958

Meanwhile, ratings from international viewers look like this:

Users of IMDB are rating it a solid 8.1 out of 10, while those over on My Drama List are giving it a higher 8.4 out of 10 (with anything above an 8.0 on that site indicating a very good drama).

It is just unfortunate that the Korean drama was licensed to Disney+ as, let’s face it, most K-dramas that end up on Disney+/Hulu have a lower audience than those on Netflix due to Disney’s abysmal marketing team.

They are usually available in only a select few regions as well.

Chief Detective 1958 stars the absolutely superb ensemble cast of Lee Je Hoon, Lee Dong Hwi, Choi Woo Sung and Yoon Hyun Soo.

The Korean action crime drama’s final episode will air tonight on MBC in South Korea at at 21:50 (KST).

Disney+ will stream the last episode around the same time.
