After a big drop in the ratings for its penultimate episode on Saturday night, I was thrilled to see the JTBC drama Doctor Slump, Episode 16 end the series on a nice ratings increase on Sunday night — both nationwide and in Seoul.
Data from Nielsen Korea shows Doctor Slump, Episode 16 earned a very healthy 6.46 percent rating, which is a decent increase from Episode 15’s drop to 4.95 percent.
Audiences in Seoul also behaved similarly, with the series finale of this excellent medical-themed rom-com earning an even higher 7.43 percent audience share, which is nicely up from the K-drama’s 15th episode’s rating of 5.93 percent.
Those ratings added to the ratings from the other 15 episodes gave the Park Hyung Sik and Park Shin Hye-led drama an average rating per episode of 5.61 percent nationwide and a slightly higher 6.43 percent in Seoul.
Solid Korean ratings the cast and crew should be pleased to have received.
International audiences rate Doctor Slump
Outside South Korea, Doctor Slump has ended with ratings from international viewers of an even more solid 8.4 out of 10 on My Drama List, and an oddly low 7.5 out of 10 from users of IMDB.
Netflix viewers seemed to love the Korean drama the whole way through, however, as it hit the streaming platform’s Top 10 Non-English TV Shows chart its first week, and has remained on the chart for the last seven weeks.
Last week it was in the #5 spot.
The latest data from Netflix will be out tomorrow (Tuesday, March 19th) and will run through yesterday, so it will be interesting to see if the K-drama ended its run still on the chart for the eighth week and, if so, at what position.
All 16 episodes of Doctor Slump are now streaming on Netflix for international viewers.
