Listen to Cat Power’s ‘The Greatest’ from Faraway heard as Zeynep and Josip make love

Netflix

American singer songwriter Cat Power (aka Chan Marshall) had one of her songs featured on the superb soundtrack of the new Netflix movie Faraway this week.

That song was Cat Power’s ‘The Greatest‘, and it was the gorgeous song played during the scene where Zeynep and Josip have told each other everything about who they slept with in the past, and then make love.

Cat Power’s ‘The Greatest‘ was released as the title track from the singer’s seventh studio album of the same name back in 2006.

It was the first album the indie rock, folk rock singer released that comprised all original songs, and went on to be a hit for the Atlanta, Georgia native.

The Greatest album charted in 10 countries, including the United States, with its highest placing at #1 on the U.S. Top Independent Albums chart.

The Greatest‘ song is known for the use of Power’s voice on various tracks that were then blended together in an almost ethereal manner.

The sad lyrics that seem to hint at the singer having given up on her life’s ambtions are also a standout:

Once I wanted to be the greatest
No wind or waterfall could stall me
And then came the rush of the flood
Stars at night turned deep to dust

Listen to Cat Power’s ‘The Greatest‘ as played on that lovely scene from Faraway in the Spotify player, and in the video.

It really is a gorgeous song.

The wonderful German romantic comedy Faraway stars Naomi Krauss and Goran Bogdan, and is now streaming on Netflix.
