Listen to Elvis Costello & The Attractions’ ‘Pump It Up’ from Zombie Town as Mike is attacked in the bathroom

Pump It Up‘ one of several cool classic tracks on the Zombie Town soundtrack

Elvis Costello & The Attractions’ ‘Pump It Up‘ was the song playing on the soundtrack of the new Canadian comedy horror film Zombie Town as Mike (Marlon Kazadi) is attacked in the bathroom by a zombie.

It continues playing as Amy uses a fire extinguisher to save him.

The cool New Wave track is one of several classic pop songs used on the soundtrack, including Andy Kim’s ‘Rock Me Gently‘ over the end credits.

When did Elvis Costello release ‘Pump It Up‘?

The song itself was released by the British singer songwriter and his backing band The Attractions in June, 1974 as the second single from his hit second album This Year’s Model.

The satirical track makes fun of those who descend into obsession with various hedonistic pursuits — drugs, alcohol and sex being three of them — pointing out that, the more you involve yourself in these things, the less pleasure you actually feel.

Pump it up until you can feel it
Pump it up when you don’t really need it
Don’t really need it
Don’t really need it
Don’t really need it

After charting at #24 on the UK Singles chart, ‘Pump It Up‘ has since gone on to become one of his most well-known songs, and has been re-released by the singer on several albums since.

Zombie Town itself is based on the book of the same name by iconic horror fiction author R.L. Stine, and is now showing in movie theaters around the United States and Canada.
