Another melancholic song showed up on Grey’s Anatomy last night — yes, the show is known for a specific type of music. Music it rarely disappoints with in each new episode.
Take Kevin Garrett’s ‘Refuse’ (Solo Version), that lovely and incredibly sad song that was played on Grey’s Anatomy last night at the end of the episode as Doctors Bailey and Webber are in Meredith’s room — Grey’s Anatomy, Season 17, Episode 4, “You’ll Never Walk Alone“.
A song you could pick out of a line-up if someone said “Identify the song used in last night’s Grey’s Anatomy“, because it really does have that specific Grey’s Anatomy sound.
Kevin Garrett’s ‘Refuse’ (Solo Version) was released this year as a single via KG Music from a license by AWAL Recordings America.
As for Grammy Award-nominated Kevin Garrett, he is a singer who, while quite well-known within the music industry itself, is not as known out of it.
Yet.
With his gorgeous voice, stunning songwriting skills (he was nominated for a Grammy for his work on Beyoncé’s album Lemonade), and his prolific ability to release exceptionally good music (one album, three EPs, more than 10 singles and numerous songs written for other artists as well since just 2014), it is highly likely we will be hearing much more of him in the future. Music supervisors of hit TV series already seem to be realizing that, as Harry Garrett has had songs featured on hit shows like The Resident, All American, Love Island (UK), Catfish: The TV Show and, of course, Grey’s Anatomy in just the last year and a half alone.
Expect to hear his work on these shows again and others more often, as it really is lovely.
