American indie rock band Magnolia Electric Co.’s ‘Montgomery‘ was played on last night’s episode of A Teacher — the new drama series currently airing on FX on Hulu — A Teacher, Season 1, Episode 5.
The short and sweet but melancholic track was heard as Claire and Kat meet at Matt’s concert, and continued playing as Kat takes some alcohol from behind the bar.
The under 2-minute song is from Magnolia Electric Co.’s second studio album Fading Trails, which was released in 2006 via the Secretly Canadian record label.

Magnolia Electric Co. ultimately released five studio albums starting in 2005, with the last album hitting shelves in 2009.
Jason Molina himself sadly died of multiple-organ failure due to over a decade of struggling with alcoholism at the young age of just 39 in 2013.
Over his lifetime, the musician recorded and released an astounding 22 albums, as well as eight EPs and a slew of singles.
