Listen to Supertramp’s ‘Goodbye Stranger’ from Outer Range, Season 1, Ep. 2

The now defunct British rock band Supertramp’s ‘Goodbye Stranger‘ was played on the soundtrack of the new Amazon Prime series Outer Range this week — Outer Range, Season 1, Episode 2, “The Land“.

The song was first released on the band’s sixth studio album Breakfast in America, which came out in early 1979 on the A&M label.

Goodbye Stranger‘ was the third single from the album, and went on to chart in Canada, the Netherlands, France, New Zealand, the UK and on three charts in the United States.

That included the high ranking of #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

It was also certified Gold in Canada.

The soft rock track is known for its falsetto lyrics, its piano-driven melody and its superb ending guitar solo.

The Breakfast in America album was also an enormous success for the band, making it to #1 on the charts in 10 countries, and selling more copies than any other the band released.

That include the four million copies being bought in the United States alone.

Listen to Supertramp’s ‘Goodbye Stranger‘ as played on Outer Range in the video, and on the remastered, deluxe version of the band’s Breakfast in America album and you will hear why.

Yep, more than 40 years after its first release, that is still a helluva banging song.
