One of the tracks I used to blast as loud as I could when I was in my late teens and driving down Ohio roads late at night was Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger‘. Because it was a song that made me feel like I could do anything.
Last night, Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger‘ showed up after a long absence on my playlists. This time on And Just Like That…, Season 1, Episode 7, “Sex and the Widow“.
And, no, the track has not lost any of its power since I heard it last.
It was played on last night’s And Just Like That… episode as Charlotte and Lisa are playing tennis, and as Miranda is shopping at the farmer’s market.
From the more than 756 million plays on the song’s YouTube music video, I would say the same holds true for most people. (Continue reading after the video…)
Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger‘ came out in 1982 as the theme song for the hit movie Rocky III, which of course only helped increase the song’s massive popularity at the time.
It made it to #1 in nine countries, including hitting #1 on three separate American charts. The song was also certified 2 x Platinum or Gold in eight countries.
‘Eye of the Tiger‘ was also released as the title track from the band’s third studio album, although most of the rest of the album did not have the same brilliance as that song.
Listen to Survivor’s ‘Eye of the Tiger‘ from And Just Like That… on the band’s Eye of the Tiger album, and on its music video.
