Listen to Van Morrison’s ‘Into the Mystic’ from Not Dead Yet, S1 E9 as Monty’s ashes are being scattered

Van Morrison’s magical ‘Into the Mystic‘ played as Nell and Monty are at the beach

Van Morrison’s ‘Into the Mystic‘ was one of a couple of the Irish singer songwriter’s songs to be featured on hit TV series this week, this time on Not Dead Yet — Season 1, Episode 9, “Not Scattered Yet“. (the other one on A Million Little Things)

The song was heard on the episode as Nell and Monty are sitting on the bench at the beach talking while Cricket is spreading Monty’s ashes.

It ends as Monty disappears and reappears standing next to Cricket at the water’s edge.

What is Van Morrison’s ‘Into the Mystic‘?

Van Morrison’s ‘Into the Mystic‘ was first released on the singer’s critically-acclaimed third studio album Moondance. It went on to become one of the most popular songs from the album.

While the song’s lyrics have a mystical feel to them, the singer himself once commented the meaning of the track’s lyrics was about being “part of the universe”.

The already popular song was also released again four years later in 1974 on his live album It’s Too Late to Stop Now.

The track eventually went on to become one of Van Morrison’s most covered songs, with covers being recorded by such iconic artists as Joe Cocker, The Wallflowers, Johnny Rivers and Michael McDonald.

Listen to Van Morrison’s ‘Into the Mystic‘ as heard on last night’s Not Dead Yet on the Spotify player, and in the video featuring the official vinyl release of the album from a couple of years ago.

Episode 9 of Not Dead Yet aired on ABC. It premiered on February 8th, with its next episode airing on April 19th.
