The tvN drama Lovely Runner, Episode 7 aired last night to a huge jump in its ratings — both with nationwide audiences, and those in Seoul.

That jump was so high, it earned the Korean drama its highest ratings yet — by quite a large margin.

Data from Nielsen Korea shows Lovely Runner, Episode 7 earning 4.45 percent nationwide on Monday night, which is a big increase from Episode 6’s audience share of 3.37 percent.

Meanwhile, audiences in Seoul grew even faster, with Episode 7 of the romance drama grabbing 5.25 percent — up from the previous episode’s 3.94 percent.

Here’s how you know Lovely Runner is a superb drama

One rule of thumb of how good a Korean drama is boils down to one easy check.

Are the incredibly picky users of My Drama List (MDL), who always seem to struggle to rate a drama higher than an 8.1 out of 10, giving it an average of 8.6 or over.

If they are, you can all but guarantee only those with incredibly strange tastes will hate it.

Looking at the ratings on MDL for Lovely Runner now then, I almost fell over when I saw it is currently rated a 9.1 out of 10.

That kind of rating over there is just about unheard of, with only a handful of dramas in the several years I have been using the site getting to the 9.0 mark. Let alone passing it.

And only one — Twinkling Watermelon — hitting the 9.2 mark.

So, that Lovely Runner is now rated that high on MDL, and that hardly anyone in that group of incredibly picky users has a negative comment to say about it, yep, if you have not yet started watching the drama, you probably should.

Lovely Runner stars Byeon Woo Seok and Kim Hye Yoon, and airs on tvN every Monday and Tuesday night. It streams on Viki for international K-drama fans.

And, by the way, over 11,400 viewers on Viki are currently giving it a crazy high average of 9.8 out of 10. So there’s that as well.
