Rosé and Kang Dong Won are NOT dating — come on, get a life

I am not a supporter of fan culture at all, but especially the part of any fandom that thrives on gossip. Gossip that is usually made up, but will continue long after a singer or other artist has said in no uncertain terms the gossip is a lie.

Case in point, the latest gossip around South Korean girl band BLACKPINK‘s Rosé and Kang Dong Won. Two Korean celebrities who were apparently at a party in Los Angeles recently and were photographed seated next to each other.

So, of course, some of the BLACKPINK fans sharing two brain cells among them, and with nothing better to do with their sad, sorry lives are now gossiping all over the Internet that Rosé and Kang Dong Won must be dating.

After all, if you meet someone for a few minutes, or are photographed with them one time, you must be dating, right? (Leaving me to wonder how the people spreading this rumor get through life if they are really this dumb?).

After more than a week of the rumor Rosé and Kang Dong Won are dating, BLACKPINK’s agency YG Entertainment finally released a statement yesterday denying the rumor.

This after last week the South Korean agency was forced to issue a legal action warning after even more viscious rumors by lunatic BLACKPINK fans were spread insisting Rosé was at a party where drugs were in evidence. (I’d say anti-fans at this point)

Despite any evidence whatsoever to back that nasty rumor up.

In their latest announcement, this time about Rosé and Kang Dong Won dating, YG Entertainment denied any romantic relationship between the two, and requested fans please stop spreading the rumor.

The agency did not threaten legal action as of yet but, if the rumor continues and becomes nastier, that could very well be the result.

How do rumors like Rosé and Kang Dong Won dating start?

Often a rumor will be started by the owner of a YouTube channel desperate to get views for their low-quality videos.

That rumor is then picked up by an army of usually teenage girls. Particularly girls with little else of substance in their lives except for their obsession with a particular artist.

In this case Rosé of BLACKPINK.

That rumor will then be adopted by anti-fans of said artist, who will spread the rumor even further. Often with nastier results.

At that point, the agency of an artist is then forced to step in and threaten legal action, with actual legal action often being taken against those spreading the rumor if they do not stop.

Now personally, if I was a fan of an artist, I would much rather know what is really going on in their lives rather than believe a dumb rumor created by some YouTuber trolling for views.

Because that YouTuber is assuming you are the fools you apparently are, as you fall right into their trap.

Plus, if I was a fan of an artist, I would want them to be happy and not to be harassed or made to feel sad due to some stupid rumor without any substance being spread all over the Internet.

Rumors in some circumstances (ie: a drug rumor) that could end up destroying the artist’s career and, thus, their lives.

In other words, if you are one of the people spreading the rumor about 26-year-old Rosé and 42-year-old Kwan Dong Won dating, seriously, shut your mouth, move along and get a life.

Because what you are doing makes you look like a loser.
