While I must admit, I was dubious about The Fiery Priest 2 being as superb as the K-drama’s first season when its first episode hit, that concern has easily been waylaid with subsequent episode releases.
So much so, not only is The Fiery Priest 2 easily as well-written, well-acted and directed, and funny as Season 1, in some respects it surpasses it.
So, no, I am not surprised The Fiery Priest 2, Episode 6 aired on SBS in South Korea last night to yet another new all-time high rating nationwide.
Even if its rating did drop with audiences in Seoul.
That nationwide rating, by the way, was 12.8 percent on Saturday night — slightly up from its previous episode’s then-highest rating of 12.7 percent.
Well done, Kim Nam Gil, Kim Sung Kyun, Lee Hanee, Sung Joon, Seo Hyun Woo, BIBI, and the rest of the cast and crew, eh?
The Fiery Priest 2, Episode 6 rating in Seoul
Meanwhile, in Seoul, The Fiery Priest 2, Episode 6 rating dropped slightly — hitting a still extremely high 12.6 percent last night, compared to Episode 5’s viewership of 13.6 percent.
So, not a huge drop, and still a big win considering the Korean drama also airs at the same time as When the Phone Rings on MBC, as well as overlaps the last few minutes of Love Your Enemy, tvN’s new Saturday/Sunday drama.
In other words, it is looking increasingly likely that we will see The Fiery Priest 2 hitting close to the 22 percent nationwide audience share it grabbed for its final episode in Season 1 (24.7 percent in Seoul), if these ratings increases continue.
Fingers crossed, eh?
