A Shop for Killers Season 2 on its way? Here’s what we know so far

It looks like the very successful and highly-rated K-drama A Shop for Killers may just be getting a second season. Something that is quite rare in the Korean drama world.

According to Korean news media, during a Disney + press conference at the JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square Seoul earlier today, local content producer Shin Ah Reum commented that due to “requests coming in” from K-drama fans for A Shop for Killers, Season 2, there is now serious discussion going on about the possibilities of making that happen.

He added “It was a work that we were confident in internally, and as expected, the response was good, with viewers already asking for season 2.”

Especially because of the ending of Season 1.

Season 1 of A Shop for Killers and fans’ reception

The first season of A Shop for Killers (aka 킬러들의 쇼핑몰 in Korean) is one of the most highly rated drama series on My Drama List at the moment, with an 8.8 out of 10 being given by the Asian drama-focused website’s usually very picky users.

It is also receiving very good ratings on IMDB, with a current 8.1 out of 10.

The Korean drama is based on Kang Ji Young’s novel of the same name and tells the story of Jeong Ji An (played by Kim Hye Joon), a young woman who lives with her uncle Jeong Jin Man (Lee Dong Wook) due to the death of her parents a decade before.

Soon after the shocking death of her uncle by suicide, however, she suddenly becomes the target of assassins, and finds herself pinned down in her home putting into effect the skills her uncle taught her in a desperate effort to survive.

The Korean drama was one of the most-watched TV shows on Disney + when it released and, even now over a month since the 8-episode drama ended, A Shop for Killers is still in the Disney + Top 10 in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore and South Korea.

No wonder Disney + is pushing for Season 2, right?

We will keep you updated as more news about a new season of the Lee Dong Wook-led drama comes out.

Until then, watch the official A Shop for Killers trailer below if you haven’t yet seen it. Then… jump to it.
