Lee Joo Myung, star of the recent hit Korean drama Like Flowers in Sand, has been confirmed as starring in upcoming JTBC drama My Youth (working title).
She joins a main cast that, as previously reported, already includes Song Joong Ki (Reborn Rich) and Chun Woo Hee (The Atypical Family)
According to Korean news media, My Youth is a romance melodrama that tells the story of Sun Woo Hae (played by Song Joong Ki) who used to be a successful child actor.
But, due to the way he was treated by the adults around him, he lived a childhood of immense trauma.
Nowadays, however, Woo Hae is happy in his life as both a florist and novelist. That is until he suddenly comes back into contact with Seong Je Yeon (Chun Woo Hee), his former girlfriend, his first love and the person who helped him get through the dark times.
But Je Yeon now works for an entertainment company called Feel Entertainment and, after her family experienced financial ruin, has become extremely ambitious and driven.
Due to this, will she decide to disrupt Woo Hae’s now-happy life simply for her own financial gain?
Meanwhile, Lee Joo Myung plays Mo Tae Rin, a former child actress herself but who is now a successful adult actress and who is managed by Seong Je Yeon.
Of course, like anyone in the entertainment business, Tae Rin is also struggling with her own personal problems. And that is when she runs into her own first love.
My Youth is being directed by Lee Sang Yeob (Yumi’s Cells), and is written by Park Shi Hyun (Run On).
Song Joong Ki’s agency HighZium Studio is producing the K-drama.
No information has yet been released as to when My Youth is due to begin filming, but the Korean romance drama is scheduled to air on JTBC in 2025.
Until then, you can watch Lee Joo Myung in her hit drama Like Flowers in Sand on Netflix.
